World Design in Novi Sad: Two Great Exhibitions within the ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’

Two great exhibitions of design will start on 17 September within the ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’
One of the leading styles – Swiss design will revive the space of the Railway Station through connection of unusual space and programme, while the exhibition of the innovative Finish style will be in the Egység Cultural Station.

After New York, Beijing and Hong Kong, Novi Sad has the privilege of hosting one of the most significant exhibitions of design entitled ‘Swiss Style Now’ that will opened at 8:21 p.m. (20:21) in the Railway Station Hall and show the contemporary Swiss-style trends as well as unusual printing techniques and high-quality of the exhibits.
The authors of the exhibition, ‘Neo Neo’, Erich Brechbühl, Noël Leu, and Alexander Tochilovsky from Switzerland, seeks to acquaint the audience with modern Swiss design through this exhibition, which consists of more than 320 works, posters, books, magazines, vinyl records and flyers. The Hall of the Railway Station in Novi Sad will become a unique ‘Design Pavilion’.
One of our most famous graphic designers – Slavimir Stojanović Futro will explain why Swiss design is still a favourite among experts and what makes it recognisable to visitors.
The exhibition is implemented in cooperation with the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ and PDP Conference of creative media. It will be open until 15 October.
The Railway Station is also going to be the place of presentation of the ‘This Building Truly Talks’ project by Filip Jovanovski, the winner of the 14th Prague Quadrennial. The performance within the project is scheduled for 22 September at 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., and for 23 and 24 September at 12 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The ‘Innovative Finish Design’ exhibition will be opened by H.E Ambassador of Finland

How does design find use in communications technology, shipbuilding, healthcare, the furniture industry and many other areas? In what way new technologies influence design? You can find answers to these and many other questions at the ‘Innovative Finish Design’ that will be opened in the Egység Cultural Station on 17 September at 1 p.m. For Finish people design is a way of solving problems, a way to apply new techniques and technologies that characterise them and an opportunity to develop services and new business opportunities.
The author of the exhibition, Jarno Peltonen, the former director of the Design Musem Helsinki, wanted to point out the importance of design to the Finish people.

The exhibition is part of the Week of Finland Culture programme that is accompanied by diverse programmes, such as workshop for children and literary nights, which is a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the Finish culture and way of life. The exhibition is implemented in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland and the ‘Novi Sad 2021– European Capital od Culture’ project, and will be open until 22 September.

The ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ is the programme arch of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project, which turns Novi Sad into the ‘city of scene’ at more than 80 locations from 24 to 30 August. Part of the ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ are Street Musicians Festival – Gradić Fest, Piano City, Festival of Chamber Music, etc.

It connects spaces and programmes, as well as the actors themselves: the ‘Kaleidoscope’ presents a unique image of the diversity of Novi Sad through multiple arts, with its cultural institutions, non-institutional scene, artists and citizens themselves. With more than 400 programmes, everyone will have a chance to design their own kaleidoscope of culture.
